Allen D. Tate announced today that he is planning to move the Yahoo! Linux in Libraries electronic discussion list to his Web site at Linux In Libraries. Tate says that this electronic list, which was established in 2003, just topped 100 members.

I hope this really takes off. I am for Open Source solutions in the library world. I know little about Linux specifically, as my specialty is Sun Solaris operating systems. However, even in the Solaris environment, we use a lot of Open Source and GNU products. For example, I am currently learning to configure Cfengine to maintain groups of computers in a desired state. BTW, Cfengine can even be used to maintain Windows and MacOS X systems in a desired state.
