I found this bookmarklet hack to make posting to WordPress easier: WordPress Bookmarklet Hack by Blogging Pro. I added the fix mentioned in a comment to make it use the advanced editing mode. You do that by editing the require line in the bookmarklet.php file. Now it is on my Firefox bookmarks toolbar and works fine. Blogging Pro has a lot of tidbits and links to more tidbits and articles for fine-tuning Wordpress.

I also found a link on that Web site to UrbanGiraffe, who has a multipart article titled Dissection of a Wordpress Theme. I need to read through that once I learn about all the defaults in Wordpress. UrbanGiraffe also has several plugins for Wordpress.

Started working on this after I got home. The script to import Movable Type entries was very fast and required editing just one file! I still need to follow through and find out what I need to do to preserve archive link paths, particularly since the domain name is different.

I changed the DNS records for librarianway.com, which has been parked for the past year and within 30 minutes I could get to this Web log with that domain name.

I loaded a bunch of different themes (skins) and I will be changing them often at first to get a feel for what I like. I am doing just the minimum to get things moved, so things are not right yet.

Blockquotes in my old postings don’t post properly. Some symbols imported incorrectly. None of the links at the top work because I haven’t configured them yet. There are a bunch of links on the side that come standard with WP, which I haven’t had time to delete.

More work tomorrow.
