A must read book that serves as an eye opener for what remains of intelligent creatures in the wild. Well written with a welcome touch of British sarcasm. I would have given 5 stars only because I wished to know more and found the book too short.

This book is amazing. It opens your eyes to what is a misunderstood animal, and is written by an amazing zoologist. The reason I gave this book four stars is because Mowat left out the part where he killed the wolves he was studying, which gave a lot of readers false hope. But other than that this is a great and influential book.

A fantastic storyteller, Mowat describes the wolf unlike any tale you have heard in your youth. Majestic animals that are often misunderstood and vilified, unfairly, you will learn a great deal about their true nature and importance in the circle of life. Highly recommended for young and old alike, it’s a book you cannot put down until finished...and then you still want to hear more!

These incredible animals had been so misunderstood and feared, yet the time that he spends out in the wild observing wolves shows us that these animals are incredibly intelligent, cunning creatures that share an amazing family bond and closeness.
