Description

A series of chance encounters leads to a sizzling new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn't hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava's ever had. And that's all it was--until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.

When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb's orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he's stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart's in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. Not long thereafter Ava realizes she's made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn't quite so unlikeable after all. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. But even if she does decide to risk her heart on Caleb, there is no guarantee her stubborn Scot will want to risk his heart on her....

This was exactly the kind of book I’d been longing for. I was fully immersed and couldn’t put it down. Great if you’re looking to escape into a book on vacation or a cozy night at home. Loved it and already on my way to read more by this author.

Falls outside the standard trope somehow. I appreciate the internal recognition of coming from wounded places, and the external honesty purposely laid out from all characters. The communication was shown as brave without being overly dramatic, and the characters growth believable. Plus, I laughed aloud quite a few times. Thank you for this book.

I must say that I love all of Samantha Young’s work. From the beginning, the “On Dublin Street” series had me wanting more. Each novel brings its own unique story and I feel that Ava and Caleb certainly had theirs. What started out as angst turned to passion and sadness. I don’t want to give spoilers away because I don’t think that is fair to the readers, but I feel Samantha had the right number of supporting characters needed to tell this story. Anybody who doesn’t love Harper, well I can’t even imagine. I would love to see Harper get her own story. I hope to keep filling my library with many more wonderful stories from Samantha!

I really wanted to like this book, but [SPOLIER ALERT] there was this weird underlying vilification of abortion at the end that was meant to explain why Caleb was so cruel. It felt cheap to me, not to mention tone deaf, to claim that his ex “killed their baby,” and that’s the reason he was so messed up. She had an abortion without telling him, which is a super terrible thing to do if you’ve already brought the other person into it. But ultimately it was this woman’s body and life, and she didn’t want a baby, and that’s the thing she was vilified for, which is absolutely not okay to do. And Ava bought right into it. That sat the wrong way with me, but overall I liked Ava and Caleb and was rooting for them.

A little cliched, but still a good read. Ava and harper’s relationship stood out and I wish the author took more time to uncover their backstories to add some depth .

I absolutely loved the book. It had me laughing out loud, smirking and often reading with my mouth open in shock. There were enough twists and turns to keep me on my toes. The characters built in this story are some of my all time favorites: complicated, relatable and easy to root for as individuals. I loved the career emphasis as well and was pleased to see that two career orientated characters never came to a point where they chose the typical romance novel option of ‘living vs working’. So happy to have found the author. Will be downloading all her other books.
