Hands down, one of the best non fiction books of 2018. Howard Bryant does an incredible job of tracing the beginnings of sports as a political platform for African Americans. He also shines a light on the unfortunate realities of the political environment in sports. This isn’t a book about football, it’s a book about American history, and it is SUPERB!
