Good book. Kept my interest with plot twists but a little hard to keep up with all the characters and that’s why I gave it four stars.

Elusive Promise by Barbara Freethy is the latest installment in her off the grid series. It stands up to the other books in the series and keeps the reader guessing as to whom the bad guys really are. Great characters with backstories that are reveled slowly to keep the reader and the the other characters guessing. Loved the plot and how Parisa rolled with the punches. Can’t wait for the next one!

Barbara Freethy never fails to deliver. Elusive Promise is Book 4 in the FBI Off the Grid series. Each and every book can be read as stand alones, but highly recommend you start with book 1. The series revolves around 5 FBI agents who develop a friendship while training at Quantico. In this 4th book, Parisa is invited to an engagement party for a friend from her past, only to witness her friend being kidnapped. When Jarad saves Parisa, she can’t help but question who he is. The quest begins for Parisa to try to find Jasmine before it’s too late, while Jarad is in search for the killer of his partner. Definitely a strong chemistry between them, and I loved how each one finds in the other exactly what they need. Be ready for the many twists and turns as you follow Parisa and Jarad’s quest to find Jasmine as well as seek out a terrorist group, all this while trying to elude a group trying to get Parisa. Be warned - You won’t want to put this down once you pick it up!

Another excellent read in this fast moving series. Friendships are tested, with the question “who is the ultimate villain” as all these books are tied together by one tragic incident. Will all questions be answered in the next final book? It makes me wonder if all the previous characters will be included in the wrap up of this series. Now we anticipate the next. Good read.

ELUSIVE. PROMISE. Barbara Freethy Parisa now at thirty one, surprised to get an invite from consulate general for his daughter Jasmine engagement party. Years ago classmates and friends, but hadn’t kept in touch. Being with the FBI for four years, seems everything was at breakneck speed, little time for anything else. Seeing the happy couple, her ring was dazzling, but said it had a curse on it. Talking with her later as Jasmine expresses if she was giving up what she was to be a part of him, and what he wanted. Both sister were excited that Parisa had reached out to them, to come that night which she hadn’t. A smell and Jasmine collapsed, a door opened, the two men had on the wrong type of shoes. Jared rescued her, and again at a safe house. What Jared and Parisa are saying is partially true to one another. The bottom line there was a connection between them, and an innate truth, to find Jasmine. Plot unfolds as though you are there, which draws you into the story. It was a set up to get Parisa there, but why. I love Jared and Parisa working together. A superb plot, mystery and romance, which doesn’t stop till the end. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Elusive Promise is cryptic and mysterious from the first word to the last. Parisa Maxwell is taking time off from her busy job as an FBI agent so heads to New York. Parisa attends a party for an old friend but events happen at the party that keep Parisa doing her job off the grid. She is rescued twice by a stranger she comes to know as Jared MacIntyre. Sparks fly in multiple ways as they work together. Barbara Freethy is a master at integrating romance and mystery. While the immediate mystery may be solved she leaves us wanting more. 5 stars for Elusive Promise.
