  • Sullivan’s in Maine.

Continuing on with the Sullivan clan we move to Maine. Cassie is a confectioner. She makes things using candy. She lives in Bar Harbor (can you hear the accent!!). She has a cottage that she cleaned all up - it’s where Smith and Valentina stayed on their honeymoon. Keep it, sell it, rent it? She’s not sure yet. Flynn is a screenwriter and friends with Smith Sullivan in LA. Flynn’s real name is Joe, he grew up in the mid-west to parents who were alcoholics and drug addicts. He and his sister Sarah grew up close as to protect one another from their parents. Joe changed his name and headed to LA. unfortunately his sister Sarah fell into the same rut as their parents. He received a phone call from someone who was told to call this number. Sarah died but has a six month old daughter. The nanny is about to leak a story to the tabloids. Smith tells Flynn to head to Maine, his cousin Cassie has a place for him. Flynn is very cautious. Cassie is very friendly, cheerful, kind, compassionate. Flynn hasn’t seen that in, well like forever. Cassie helps out with Ruby as does her mom so Flynn can have a couple hours of writing time. Cassie is the sunshine that shines everyday. Soon Flynn lets his guard down and opens his heart. Only had one little issue with this story. Ruby is more like a one year old vs a six month old. It was fun to watch Flynn literally be reborn. Reminded me of a caterpillar to a butterfly.

I have loved all of the Sullivan books I’ve read so far. After reading one by accident, i have since gone back to read them all. This one however is the one I like the least. Extremely mushy, no substance and quite frankly boring. It took me 2wks to finish this book and thats only because I was determined to finish it, my normal reading speed is a 500 page book in 6hrs. In this story I feel the writer was just writing to fill a deadline and not actually fleshing out characters or feeling the story itself as she had in previous books.

This is the second time that I have read this book. I loved it even more this time. I have always enjoyed reading about the Sullivans. I have read many books about them. Bella Andre has a great way of writing and makes you feel good when you read her books. I look forward to reading more of her books and definitely would recommend this book and her other books to people to read.

This story kept me entertained. I enjoyed it until it got kind of cheesy at the end. Also, Flynn’s constant worrying over his past got annoying...especially since his parents were the screw ups, not him. I also found it weird that at 6 months old, Ruby was doing things that babies don’t usually do until they’re 9-10 months. I’d actually rate this book 3.5 stars, but I rounded up to be nice.
