Description

The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck because it’s focused on the woman he just married to save her life.

Hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport, you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.

Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeously hot woman who makes it damn hard to focus on anything but her.

What’s even more shocking is that I never once hesitated when I told her we were getting married. Ordered her actually.

More surprising yet is that she didn’t hesitate in accepting my proposal. Because she’s in trouble and she really didn’t have any choice.

So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me.  All platonic, of course.

The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

This is the fourth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series and I do believe it’s my new favorite! Every book in this series can be read alone, but is artfully intertwined so characters from previous books interact seamlessly alongside new ones. This marriage of convenience/best friend’s sister story is lead by Dax & Regan and they’re a delightfully sweet & sexy pairing. Dax’s sister Willow was just introduced & I’m already dying to read her story as well as the long awaited Tacker’s. Don’t miss this series!
  • Dax is Soooo Husband Material!!

Readers familiar with Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance, who have been with the the players and the author since Bishop was released know quite a bit about Bennett’s newest leading man, Dax Monahan. In fact, because Dax and Regan’s story occurs pretty much concurrently with Legend and Pepper’s book, some of the groundwork has already been laid when it comes to how Dax finds himself a married man and what his future could potentially look like if he has anything to say about it. Despite Dax’s player status, once he committed himself to helping Regan and then started to understand that she was no longer a little girl or Vance’s younger sister, but a beautiful woman who has had more heartache than a woman her age should have to deal with, so if he can make things easier on her, support her in the ways that she needs, he can honor Regan’s brother while perhaps realizing he is, in fact, husband material. Regan’s a fighter; she’s had to be since her teens when she lost both of her parents, but now she’s truly fighting for her life, and while she’s used to doing things on her own and feeling the loneliness that comes along with not being surrounded by family who love her, but that’s no longer the case, and while Dax may be a bit too alpha and domineering at times, it’s clear that she’ll never have to worry with him by her side. The progression of Dax and Regan’s relationship - from family friends to husband and wife to lovers to something both exhilarating and confusing - at times, seems seamless, even though the marriage is supposed to be fake because it’s clear that deep feelings exist between these two; they just need the courage to see where their new feelings will take them. Dax and Regan’s book not only focuses on witnessing these two acclimate to their new normal, to their new feelings for each other, to their way of coping with the changes as Dax works to understand what he wants and needs as a man and as a husband, but readers also gain a deeper understanding of just how much Tacker continues to struggle with grief and guilt and what hitting rock bottom means for the captain of the Vengeance. I appreciate the fact that Sawyer Bennett didn’t add anymore unnecessary drama to what is already an overwhelming situation for both Regan and Dax as well as the Arizona Vengeance, and while I was frustrated and disheartened at times, I knew that even though everything didn’t follow a linear path and there were far reaching obstacles, Dax and Regan knew that the struggle was worth it if it meant that they could be the couple they were meant to be. Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose were fantastic narrators; they voiced Dax and Regan’s perspectives with passion, conveying the emotions of the hero and heroine and providing a voice to everything the characters were thinking throughout the course of the story. 4 Poison Apples

I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/best friend’s brother storyline. The beginning of Dax and Reagan’s relationship might not be conventional, yet sparks fly between them from the get go. While navigating through their situation they learn what started innocently turns into something amazing. Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose’s performance in this audiobook elevated this story to another level. Bringing life to the characters. I absolutely love this Arizona Vengeance Series and can’t wait for Tacker’s book. I highly recommend this audiobook.

I loved this book/listen and this story hit home. Regan Miles and Dax Monahan have been friends for Regans life and then when life comes in the middle of everything Dax decides to “take care “ of Regan. This was a great couple and I could not stop reading/listening until I finished the book. This was the first book in this series that I read/listened to so know I have to go back and read other books from this series.

I am in love with this series! Sawyer always does such a great job with her storylines. But I’m really impressed with the health issues the heroine has to deal with. Bennett’s writing was flawless! I really can’t wait to see where she takes this series next! The audio is on point. It was very relaxing and easy to listen to!

3.5 stars Dax is a sexy best friend's little sister/marriage of convenience romance. The story is book 4 in the series and runs along the same timeline as the previous book, Legend, but can be read as a stand alone. For maximum enjoyment though, I definitely recommend them since previous characters appear throughout the series. Dax and Regan had amazing chemistry and I really loved the progression of their friendship to more. They have known each other their whole lives and I think that added a sweetness to their connection that I don't always feel. Yes, there is push and pull between them as the lines get blurred, but I liked that there wasn't any unnecessary drama between them (or if there was, it was resolved quickly). I think what made this a less engaging read for me, was that it felt like this book spent just as much time on Dax and Regan as it did setting up the next books in the series. Don't get me wrong - I can't wait to read Tacker (I just want to hug this man so much!!) and Dominik's (YUM with a capital Y!) stories, but I felt like it took away too much of the spotlight from Dax and Regan. I did love seeing all the previous couples (Erik and Blue!) and characters as well as getting to know Willow, Dax's sister and the likely love interest of team owner Dominik Carlson. An enjoyable read overall and I'm excited to continue on with the series! Audiobook Review Overall 4 stars Performance 4 stars Story 3.5 stars I really enjoyed the narration by Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose. Rose gave an emotional performance as Regan and really captured her vulnerability and pain. Snow's deep voice was perfect for Dax, but I did find it was too gruff for the female characters (which is understandable). There wasn't a ton of variation in his other characters as well, so there were a few times I wasn't sure which character was speaking at first.

Dax and Regan are childhood friends who marry in order to get a life saving drug. All bets are off as they navigate their way thru a undeniable attraction. Sweet and sexy with a tug on your heartstrings, these incredible characters and their journey is one terrific story!

Dax is dreamy! Very, very dreamy! I wasn’t sure about him... you know, based on the previous books where we met him. But he redeems himself. Easily. I love his relationship with Regan. These two were wonderful characters! Poor Regan though! First her parents die when she’s 14, then she gets a medical diagnosis at 20 (I’m guessing), then at 22 her brother dies and she feels all alone. Thank goodness for her close family friend (brother’s BFF), Dax. I don’t want to ruin what happens so I’m going to stop here. I highly recommend this series and this book in particular. It can be read on its own.

The perfect blend of marriage of convenience and falling for the best friends sister. The twist, the best friend, sadly, isn’t around to interfere. This leaves the path wide open to fall for her and fall hard. When your life is at stake you will do anything to survive. Even marry your deceased brother’s best friend. The catch, trying not to fall for him for real. I loved the many elements of this book, I couldn’t put it down. It has everything you need for a great romance read.
