Scary enough!

Worth the read. Kept my interest. There were a few plot holes that irked me but nothing bad enough to ruin the story. It was definitely creepy, a few times I had to put it down and walk away, but sometimes that’s what makes a good scary book. I’m glad I read it, but I probably wouldn’t read it again.

I love this book. I’ll read it again once I’ve had some time to let it simmer. It gave me mental whiplash. A book of anti-heroes.
Creepy, but hard to follow

This book was pretty creepy, but it was extremely hard to follow. I found some parts of the book didn’t fully grab my attention. While the book wasn’t a “I couldn’t put it down” type, I did find myself wondering what happens next.
Fantastic read. Wonderfully written.

This book just draws you right in and holds you close. The whole time you’re horrified at what’s unfolding you also have this shard of melancholy tucked right up in your chest. Don’t skip this read!
I hated it.

The Best Horror

The best horror titles I’ve read always make me pause.
Pause to relieve the tension.
Pause to reread the language.
Pause to think.
This did all of that.
Wow.

*Thank you to Bookish First and Gallery Books for my review copy*
I wanted to read this book because it’s an own voices story written by an Indigenous Author. Even though I was able to finish the book I had a hard time with the writing style which made it difficult for me to connect to the story. I did enjoy the cultural aspect of the story which is why I read own voices novels to learn something new. I think this is a book I may have to listen to on audio and see if it will work better for me that way.
