In this urgent, authoritative book, Bill Gates sets out a wide-ranging, practical—and accessible—plan for how the world can get to zero greenhouse gas emissions in time to avoid a climate catastrophe.

Bill Gates has spent a decade investigating the causes and effects of climate change. With the help of experts in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, political science, and finance, he has focused on what must be done in order to stop the planet's slide to certain environmental disaster. In this book, he not only explains why we need to work toward net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases, but also details what we need to do to achieve this profoundly important goal.

He gives us a clear-eyed description of the challenges we face. Drawing on his understanding of innovation and what it takes to get new ideas into the market, he describes the areas in which technology is already helping to reduce emissions, where and how the current technology can be made to function more effectively, where breakthrough technologies are needed, and who is working on these essential innovations. Finally, he lays out a concrete, practical plan for achieving the goal of zero emissions—suggesting not only policies that governments should adopt, but what we as individuals can do to keep our government, our employers, and ourselves accountable in this crucial enterprise.

As Bill Gates makes clear, achieving zero emissions will not be simple or easy to do, but if we follow the plan he sets out here, it is a goal firmly within our reach.

Keep that in mind when reading the reviews. The negative ones are most likely trolls or folks that only watch OAN or Faux News....

Make Bill Gates and his buddies test dummies for all the garbage they project on humanity for money. May the space rock of Karma aim well often.

Who made Bill Gates the arbiter of truth? Like, the dude made a computer. Let’s leave the science stuff to the......scientist. I’ll call you if I ever run WindowsOS again. (Not likely.)

When your one the richest in the world, you believe that you can tell other people what to do and how to live there lives. We’re as if he told the truth for once, that unless China and India switch from fossil fuels now, it won’t matter what our country does.

Racism is dumb. God created us as equals, no matter our skin color, our language we speak, and what to do in personal relationships.
  • It is free. You are free to read it

It’s not free because consumers rarely appreciate items if they are free. The value is not recognized if you don’t have a small amount of skin in the game. I doubt the publisher would offer up their profit either. And I’m pretty sure Gates profits will go towards more climate mitigation...
  • A great book!

    By DeepattheBottomofThings
I’ve read over a dozen books on the climate crisis, and this is my favorite one because it describes a simple framework for climate change that’s easy to understand and comprehensive. Highly recommended.

Love that he thinks he knows what he’s talking about when he’s really just a high school drop out that’s autistic and knows computers. Brilliant....insert eye roll
  • Why isn’t this book free?

    By Former USA Today user
I haven’t read this book yet, but I’m struck by the fact that this book is not entirely subsidized by Bill Gates. If he really wants people to read his proposal, why is he charging for it? He can certainly afford to offer it for free and, as a result, spread the word far more broadly and quickly...
