Description

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa brings us a snarky and sassy small-town romantic comedy full of a swoon-worthy billionaire, a second chance romance and big laughs.

Sometimes what you're looking for is right where you left it.

Every summer Mane Cantú came to Luna Harbor to visit his grandfather.

When we were teenagers we fell in love.

We promised to be each other’s forever.

He promised to come back for me.

Spoiler alert: he broke all of the promises.

I grew up, but that big heartbreak was it for me. I built a successful lavender farm and a shop and that’s now my only priority.

All is well until Mane’s grandfather falls ill and all the Cantú family comes back to Luna Harbor. For good.

What’s worse is that Mane’s now famous. Like, real-life famous, not Luna Harbor famous. He made a name for himself with his band and he and his perfect face dare to open a bar next to my store with his bandmates.

Well, he may have started the war, but I plan to finish it.

Except now we’re seeing each other everywhere, and I’m starting to remember the way we used to be.

Still, I’m sticking to my guns. I’m not falling for the prodigal son.

Until one kiss changes everything.

My favorite kind of book are these. Old lovers reuniting after years. I would’ve liked to know their secrets from the get go but….still good.
  • Love a good mystery!

The tension buildup was nice … release was almost exactly what I expected. Thanks!

I found the constant use of the f word detracting from the story and making the characters less likable. I know many people use that type of language all the time. It shows a lack of vocabulary and makes the characters appear less educated. I felt the story was a good one.
  • Hard to read

Very hard to follow for the beginning and end, as if it needs some proofreading. Somehow it was ok in the middle. The scenes with the main characters felt assault-ish so if SA is a trigger for you, I would skip it.
  • THE DISCRIMINATORY- “CLEAN” - NEVER RECOMMEND

DNF! Writing your characters saying that they’re “clean” rather than say they have a negative sti/std test is absolutely ignorant! ESPECIALLY, after one or both has performed oral sex on the other. You do know that an STI/ STD can be spread orally. Your using that word means that YOU feel that people with an STI/ STD are “unclean”. Nice way to polarize, isolate, discriminate and dismiss an entire group of people (1 in 4) who are allowed to have sex and be sexual. EDUCATE YOURSELF! #sexshaming #sexeducati̇on #sexdiscrimination #ignorance #discrimination

This book could have cleared a lot of stuff up had the characters actually had conversations. Instead, it’s some deep dark secrets (that really, weren’t either deep or dark, but I can see traumatic… despite her not remembering the incident). Then it’s as if they hit their word quota and went “welp, time to wrap all this up in the next two chapters.” All conflicts solved, items discussed, and setup for the next book. Yeah, it’s a free book for a reason. Going to pass on the next ones.

The writing in this is beautiful....poetry. I appreciate that the author focused on the story and characters, rather than filling the book with multiple sex scenes requiring 4 pages each time. This is a good general story, and a romance. There is humor. The main characters have depth. The relationships don’t come across as forced, unbelievable, or superficial. I’m betting this author could write fiction in any genre and I would enjoy it.
