I have been waiting for Hank’s happy ending and was not disappointed. Sadly life made the reading to slow due to work commitments but Penny Reid never disappoints. Hank never wanted to settle down until Charlotte walks into the Pink Pony asking for a job. After being bullied into hiring her not as a dancer but his bookkeeper he felt he would never been good enough for her. Charlotte is desperately trying to find her cousin and her latest lead brings her to a strip club. Asking Hank for an audition as a dancer and him rejecting her hurts. When he comes to her for a bookkeeping job she is intrigued. She loves numbers and is horrified at his system. Bring it up to date is her mission as well as finding her cousin. The sparks begin to fly between her and Hank and he keeps backing away. Charlotte is determined to show Hank he has value and forget the rest. Hanks soon meets her kids and is so drawn to them. I love how Hank realized love and family is so important to him. I loved Charlotte and Hank’s story!

I read everything Penny Reid writes. However with this book she surprised me by having me fall in love with a character that had not intrigued me in previous books. I should have expected nothing less because Penny writes realistic, flawed characters that draw you in. Heck by chapter 7 I was in love with Hank and in need of a hankie. After this book you,ll want to read everything she has written. I recommend you start with the Winston Brothers Series. But you can’t go wrong reading anything she has written.
  • Wonderful character growth

I admit it, I started the story really wary but I didn't like Hank. At all. He seemed selfish, self absorbed and just plain mean. And then, magically, Penny Reid weaved this story about personal growth, filled with humor and love, and I fell for Hank too. Hank, who is abrupt and grumpy but with a heart and love for people, especially those in his inner circle. Single mom Charlotte, with 4 children has a difficult life and no one to take care of her. She is always taking care of others, including her aunt and uncle, where she appeals to Hank to take her in as a stripper in his club so that she can track down her cousin for them. Heart of gold and a wonderful mother, I loved her immediately. The Winston brothers, whom I also love, feature heavily in this book as Hank is their friend. What a wonderful return to this series!

How can you not fall for Hank?! What an absolute delight of a book! So worth the wait for this one-honestly can’t imagine how it would’ve been written if had released on its original timeline. This story only benefitted from the delay-well paced and plotted, Hank’s descent in to love is just perfect! And that epilogue?! I’m not crying, Hank is!
