This was such an awesome book. I've read a couple of books on evolution, but this is the first that actually made me interested in fossils. Very cool. Of course it wouldn't convince a dummy that evolution is true because you actually have to have some reading comprehension and be able to understand what you read, but for anyone with a brain that doesn't believe in evolution, this book will remove all doubt and if it doesn't, you aren't understanding it.
  • When you have a Richard Dawkins quote in the synopsis, you know it’s gonna be bad.

Whether you’re religious or not, everyone knows that the theory of evolution is in fact a theory and has still yet to be proven. The title is misleading, he never gives any concrete facts nor does he mention the hundreds of “evolutionary” frauds that are to this day propagated in scientific textbooks.

A spectacularly accessible book, artfully crafted, and keenly suitable to both the scientist and layman alike.

The author lays out the facts of evolution, has a great writing style, and contrasts his arguments with creationism without showing contempt for religion.

While everyone knows (or should know) the general idea behind evolution, the author delves into minute details that further validate the theory without boring this reader. Very informative.

I disagree with the review by William Austin. Yes, "The Greatest Show On Earth" contains more technical details, but those who are inclined to summarily dismiss evolution for ideological prejudices are probably not equipped to understand the scientific rigor of Dawkins. This book is the best case I've read for evolution that doesn't require the reader to have already accepted the logical details of the scientific method.
  • Okay, but information very commonplace.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who has ever read a book about Evolution. Everything in this book is very commonplace knowledge. I recommend "The Greatest Show on Earth" to more advanced learners. Give this one to a creationist. I rated it so low so that it might encourage people to read this review and avoid the mistake that I made.

If I had to recommend one book to someone that wanted to learn about evolution this would be the one.
