Gabriel Allon tried to hide from his past in a sleepy little town. He wanted to work on restoring two pieces of art in peace, but Ari Shamron needed him. Ari enlisted others, including a lovely model to end Tariq’s reign of terror. In order to do that, they must all be willing to put themselves in danger. Who will survive? Who will be lost? Will Gabriel’s uncanny ability to survive the unsurvivable fail him? The story weaves from Allon’s greatest loss to his his greatest regret and ties the two together. Daniel Silva skillfully carries the reader along through each character’s journey, leading us right where he wants us to end up at an ending that surprises but doesn’t disappoint.

Predictable, boring and stuffed with irrelevant minutiae that is rambling. Glad it was on sale.

Writing very engulfing and captivating. Story and settings old, as is book. British English text, however is very annoying to me. Prefer American English. Should spell out before buying book!!

Only one other author has kept me this enthralled. Philip Kerr . I enjoyed the suspense to the last page, after many a sleepless night.

Excellent! One of the best books I have read. I now have a new author to follow and anticipate reading his other novels.

A real spy story, with traps within traps, hidden motives, old grudges, and surprising weaknesses in strong characters. If you only appreciate "slam bang boom, explosions, hundreds of shots fired, unrealistic excitement, this book is too subtle for you. The characters have depth, the action is realistic, and the reader cares about the characters. I enjoyed Gabriel Allon, but did not think he deserved the two women in his life, even though he cared for them, but poorly. This was another touch of realism. Daniel Silva has caught my interest and I plan to read all of his Gabriel Allon books!
