I'm a big fan of the graphic novel but I teach the text version of this book in my AP Language class. It's only 88 some pages and far less cheesy. Just read the original text, the graphics really don't add anything to the story. I do teach the graphic novel Persepolis and that is a book that needs the graphics to tell the story from the point of view of a child.
