One of Grisham’s best. Fine character development of Miss Callie and Willie, the narrator.

a complete and utter mess of a story. Jumps around haphazardly and by the end you just don’t care. Weak Mr Grisham, weak
  • Best book for a vacation

Enjoyed this book so much on vacation sitting on my balcony looking out to sea. It kept me glued to find out what happened next, like a good book should. I was hooked from the first few pages, horrified by the events, laughed, got teary eyed, and absolutely loved it! Grisham is just one of many authors that makes me love reading.

This is my favorite John Grisham book thus far, including his latest five books including his most recent one, Partners. Not only is the lead character not a lawyer, but he's almost totally ignorant of the law. This will change, however. It's always good to see old characters come back into his books. Lucian Willbanks and Harry Rex are two of my favorites. Ms. Callie's stories had me totally amused and I did not miss a word when she spoke or was spoken of. Will she appear in later books? You will have to read this to find out.

From the start the book grabs you and doesn't let you go. The way Grisham involves you in the story is incredible. Wish it wouldn't have finished.
