I. 4Q448: An Introduction Since our first publication of 4Q448 in 1991, (1) more then twenty articles related to various aspects of this text have appeared. (2) Among features singled out for inquiry are the ostensible lack of connection between col. A and the following columns, and the possibility that the columns were not written in the same hand. In our initial publication we posited a connection between 4Q448 col. A and Syriac Psalm 154, based on some similarities in language and content. This link has now been strengthened by A. Lemaire's significant contribution. (3) These new readings have enabled us to revise our reconstruction of this column and also to suggest a possible connection between 4Q448 col. A and 4Q448 cols. B and C based on col. A's implicit attribution to the prayers recited by Hezekiah and Isaiah when Jerusalem was besieged by Sennacherib. Our present reading of 4Q448 follows:
