I've read every Beverly Jenkins book at least three times, and I have to say that Destiny's Embrace is not her best. The disapoint begins in chapter one with an incredibly rushed plot and an introduction to too many unimportant characters at once. The characters lack depth and fall pray to a number of personality changes. I'm used to more dynamic Jenkins characters, and I gotta say, they fell short in this book. The sprinkles of history facts are always nice, but in this work, it feels random and forced. This just feels like a rush job, or a weekend passing fancy at best. I found myself skimming through a lot of pages in hopes of catching a glimps of what this book could have been. Sorry. I can't give it 5 stars and after reading through the book, I can say the 99 cent pric tag is justified.

Loved this story because once again Jenkins gives just enough history to pique interest. Laos enjoyable was the feisty personality of both women characters. I have read every single book she has written . I will forever be a fan !

I have read all of Mrs. Jenkins books from night song to the edge of dawn, to dangerously sexy to bring on the blessings but my first book by beverly was topaz. It was a gift for my birthday that matched my November birthstone topaz. It was the best book I've read until now. Destiny's Embrace was a beautiful love story. I felt the passion and often found my self wanting to cry with Mariah. Mrs Jenkins you've done it again!!!!!!

Hello All.. If your looking for a great story that intertwined history, struggles, and romance from rags to riches kinda story, this is it. I truly adored this story. It was a true pleasure getting to know the main characters. The plot was quickly revealed and the unfolding of the story clear. However, I would have enjoyed learning more about Mirah's history and having her share those experience more in depth with her guy. This would have given the relationship a stronger sense of emotion. In short, I enjoyed the read.
