Barry wastes no time getting deep into serious study. There is an assumption that you have serious knowledge of theory. I love this book! Well done Barry!

Very well organized & enough solid material here to keep you learning for a long time. The content alone makes it well worth the price, but the addition of interactive audio/video makes this an exceptional value.

This book looks so good

If you work at playing jazz guitar for long enough you will no doubt come to revere any work that achieves even one of the attributes mentioned in the title above and to find all three in one volume is a happy thing indeed. Balancing nicely the instructional modes of "here's a neat trick", "here's a thing you'd better just sit down and do" and "here's why all this works" Greene has come up with a pedagogical approach that actually tells you how to go about it, which is usually quite at odds with being as comprehensive as the work is. If you've been around a bit you can sit down and read through the thing in an evening and then pick and choose ideas or concepts to work on in depth for as long as you want, with a realistic expectation that you'll be able to apply it on the gig this week. Greene also has a series of video lessons on offer which are nicely complementary to this material in that they are typically specific to a tune.

This book right here lays down the foundations for playing and improvising over tunes, and from square one he doesn't leave you with a dry example. Barry is always supplementing concepts discussed with examples, and most often he'll show a few hip alternatives to the rudimentary versions. Great for up and coming musicians or more seasoned players looking to fill in some cracks and learn a few new things. Besides the bag of tricks to work on, you can leave it to him to use what technology has to offer to try and bring music education to wherever a person can click a mouse. Very thankful that there are great instructor's like this to help unravel the mysteries of jazz, and Barry's one of the best. Get this book!

The idea of a jazz guitar manual or handbook is not new, but an interactive, video-illustrated manual that covers a broad area of musical info (from basic to advanced) is inspired and original. Most importantly, the author stresses the importance of finding your own voice and artistic statement. Thanks, Barry.

You probably already know that Barry Greene is a fantastic and inspiring guitarist and educator. Now he's produced an ebook that takes advantage of the technology available and presents it in a new and refreshing way. I checked out the sample first and within the first few pages discovered a fingering for a pentatonic scale that has some how eluded me for 30 years. I have a ton of instruction books on Jazz so most of the material here is not new to me. However, having all of this content in an easy to use format is an invaluable resource for even the most experienced guitarist. Great job Barry and thank you!
