Description

The New York Times bestselling novel soon to be a major motion picture starring Nicole Kidman, for fans of The Woman in the Window and The Silent Patient.

"I gobbled it down in one sitting." – Anne Lamott, People

Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater. She lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds. She likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps. She has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices, The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept. Expertly plotted and reminiscent of Gone Girl and These Things Hidden, The Silent Wife ensnares the reader from page one and does not let go.

Good story overall. Quite thoughtful and meaningful story about expectations.

Todd was endearing and at times infuriating. Jodi is a whole paradigm. This book was so hard to put down, taking my reading time from 30 minutes a day to 2 hours.
  • Not great….

Rather drawn out and slow. And really not a mystery or a thriller. This isn’t an author I would pick up again.
  • Wake me when it’s over, please

Tedious reading. Probably because it’s in the present tense. I don’t care for this writing stay. The only thing worse is first person present. I draw the line there..,just won’t read those type of books. I made the the mistake of having an inkling of the end. I made the assumption that there was a modicum at least of suspense. I’m still waiting. I decided to not finish it and write this review, which isn’t likely to help anyone decide to buy this book and then read it. So I just stick with my first impression which was it seeming intriguing and follow that with my conclusion that I was wrong.

Boring and pointless. Not even worth the 1.99$ I paid for it.
  • How did I make it till the end.

Somehow I read the whole book. I finished it in a day, mainly because I wanted to get it over. It just really seemed pointless! Comparing it to Gone Girl, was an embarrassment to Gone girl. I tend to share my read books with friends, but this one is going in the free donation box!
  • Long and boring

This book felt soooo long and boring, I had to really push myself to even continue reading until the end. There were some good entertaining parts but overall very blah. I have read many other similar style books that I would recommend instead
