This books is so much fun to read and you need to hear about it! It’s a perfect blend of angst and steamy steam! A story of a tortured soldier looking for the next chapter in his life following his discharge from the army. His new uncle-in-law Mark makes him and offer he can’t refuse as a private personal bodyguard guard that just, and the result well… you’ll have to read and find out. Passionate, with over the top drama is what this author guarantees in her stories and she does not disappoint with this one! Although the plot was somewhat predictable, the HOW this story evolved and developed made it a real page turner. How it was all executed was so worth reading and discovering. Nothing is what it appears and I’m here for it! Even the ending… of course that was going to happen, but it left me wanting more. More importantly, I need to learn the secrets behind these alpha anti heros. There’s a prequel to this read, Salt in the Wound that I strongly recommend reading before this installment as it explains the mechanics behind Mark’s circumstances. I wish it had been included as part of this read because it would have explained some of the situations presented in the story.

If ever there is an author you should read, it’s definitely Sierra Simone. And once again, she gives us a book that is EVERYTHING. Dark, spicy 🔥, and a story to keep you riveted…and will leave you dangling for more! I cannot wait for the next book!

This new series from Sierra Simone is no doubt going to be epic! Mark with his debonair good looks and mysterious demeanor, hires Tristan with his beautiful tortured soul, to be his bodyguard, protecting Mark quickly becomes so much more difficult then boss and employee. When Tristan goes to escort Isolde to Manhattan the sparks again fly for him. You are quickly drawn into this exotic world of Lyonnesse and the mystery surrounding Mark, the chemistry between these characters are off the charts and some of the scenes would be worthy of an Oscar that’s how hot they are! Ms. Simone is such a phenomenal writer, she never fails to have me completely immersed in her stories and this one is off to a beautiful start!

You are amazing. I hope the next book is in your POV, though to get Mark's POV would be just as great. You are kind. Gentle. Hard on yourself. I wanted so badly to just HUG you. I mean maybe a bit more than a hug, but a hug nonetheless. I have theories and really I don't really want the main theory to be true. I think if it is, then that is REMARKABLY cruel of Mark (no pun intended). I knew what that ending was before. Well I knew that that had happened. Not so much the telling you in that way that it happened.
