Description

Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) are part of a global community of education leaders recognised for doing amazing things with Apple technology in and out of the classroom. They explore new ideas, seek new paths and embrace new opportunities. That includes working with each other — and with Apple — to bring the freshest, most innovative ideas to students everywhere. One Best Thing is an ongoing project showcasing a broad range of innovations in teaching from ADEs around the world. Hundreds of One Best Thing Multi-Touch iBooks can be accessed for free, directly from the iTunes Store.

Working closely in the shared role of eLearning Coordinator since 2013, ADEs, Laura Brown and Sam Griffin have contributed towards building the capacity of staff and students in the use of digital technology and innovative pedagogy at Caulfield Grammar School. The inspiration for the digital portfolio program “DigiMe” was a combination of Dylan Wiliam and John Hattie’s research around formative assessment, as well a series of research assignments that Sam undertook as part of his Master of Teaching at the University of Melbourne that explored the role blogs can play in enhancing learning. This edition of One Best Thing outlines the journey of DigiMe to date.
