While the story obviously never happened, it’s a great read and great entertainment, from the story of the switch to the breathtaking suspense of the moment when the real king might have been rejected. I consider the character Tom Canty to be a noble person, and an honest one in his readiness to insist the real king have the throne. Few people of today will do that. Excellent book!
Excellent Book!

This book tells a wonderful story, and is technically very good as an ePub, too.
So many free ePubs have many errors. Not so, this book. There are relatively few.
As for the story, I was enchanted by this pious tell of a prince who learns the lesson of compassion by being treated compassionlessly by others, not that he had to learn this lesson, for he was already good.
Twain weaves historical events into his tale, which he explains in his notes at the end.
Very enjoyable, and easy to read.
Enjoyable, Fun, Educational Read

As a fan of the author's ability to spin a tale, I thoroughly and voraciously enjoyed this story... I blazed through it in 4 long sessions. The author's casually graceful humor could be seen throughout. I'd recommend to fans and new readers of Twain alike! @jayduh32
A Must Read!

Read it in 2 days. What makes it interesting is he mixed fiction with a little bit of history, giving the readers a glimpse into the 1500s. Easy read.

Mark Twain's story has been recreated many times, as movie adaptation and even loosely recreated in Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator." This was my first reading of this story and I enjoyed Twain's ironic humor; his boyhood adventure style, replacing Tom and Huck with Edward Tutor; and his Shakespearian style that comes across in the story's dialogue and narration.
An excellent piece of fiction inspired by a first class trip to Europe.
Oh man!

Samuel Clemons (mark Twain) showed his understanding of people in this book. He showed the knowledge of English history and the draconian legal system. It showed the poverty of the common people. Stealing an item of a certain price was punishable with the death penalty. He empowered a very young king to fix some of these inequities. One so young wouldn't usually have this wisdom, but this king had lived the poor life, thanks to the plot of the story. A very insightful book.

I had never read the book before. An excellent story about changing roles in the 14th century(If I remember) The way they spoke in those days is reflected in the book so. It was not an easy read at first but once you get used to it and immerse yourself in it, it becomes easier to understand. If not for the strange speech I would have given it 5 stars .
