Exploring Cultural Topics through Webpages. Gisella Licari, Grand Valley State University This presentation will introduce a wiki tool as a highly effective alternative to PowerPoint presentations and webpages. The wiki tool is a collaborative web tool used by groups of students to create online presentations on a variety of topics for Italian 102. 1 will demonstrate how the wiki tool encourages students to work cooperatively and collaboratively and can he monitored to track individual student contributions towards the group project. The main benefits to moving towards using a wiki tool include opportunities for students to provide feedback to one another and to provide an online space for students to reflect and publish their thoughts and understanding on a cultural topic. In addition to textual information, the wiki tool also allows students to display images, hyperlinks and sample audio files to enhance their presentation. Finally, the wiki tool allows students add and edit content throughout the semester and permits die-instructor the ability to make constructive suggestions and provide feedback.
