Description

All the kids in eight-year-old Jay’s neighborhood in Washington D.C. have gone crazy for Frosted Fruity Smacks, the delicious new cereal especially for kids. Not only is Frosted Fruity Smacks colorful and tasty—every box comes with its own unique surprise!
Jay and his younger brother Ryan begs their mom to buy them a box of the cereal and can hardly wait to see what their prizes are. But unlike his brother and his friends, who get cool prizes like two-headed dragons and temporary tattoos, Jay gets a boring miniature lamp that looks a lot like Aladdin’s, but can’t do anything special—or so Jay thinks!
It isn’t until he accidentally wishes for something while holding the little lamp that Jay realizes his prize is more than meets the eye. A beautiful genie named Gabby lives inside, and she’s ready and willing to grant Jay’s every wish! At first Jay is ecstatic. How amazing it is to have everything he could possibly want right at his fingertips!
But soon Jay’s secret is discovered by his next door neighbor, Nikki, who also wants to have wishes granted. It isn’t long until they both realize that having a genie of their own just might be more trouble than it’s worth….
Jay and the Genie is the first book in a series of 'The Adventures of Jay Starks', a set of children's reader books that feature African American children.
It is written by Lamont Clark and self published through 70 West Press.
