He is trying to remember this is a fake engagement...

Natalie Shaw has been healing from a difficult marriage for the two years that she and her daughter, Annalise have been living with her sister, Dr. Rayne Sterling, and her husband, Lord Edwin Sterling.

Lord Alex St. John has spent his adult life being pushed by his mother find a wife. He had been betrothed and due to actions on the young lady's part, he broke off the engagement. Now he must attend his cousin's five day wedding celebration and knows he will be harassed by all the female members of his family, with numerous women dragged before him for consideration as a wife.

Over drinks at their club, Lord Sterling suggests to Alex that he take Natalie as a 'pretend' fiancée to ward off all the trouble he is about to face. Natalie reluctantly agrees.

Their plan appears to be working until Alex's former fiancée arrives for the wedding, determined to win Alex back. Not only does he have no intention of doing so, he is beginning to believe his 'fake' fiancée might be perfect as his 'real' fiancée.

However, there is desperate maneuvering on Mildred's part, because not winning Alex back is not an option.

This is the final book in Callie Hutton’s The Merry Misfits of Bath series. Although characters from previous books appear this can be read as a standalone, however I’m confident the reader will want to go back and enjoy all the delightful stories in the series. Natalie’s awful husband died 2 years ago freeing her and their daughter from his awful treatment. Since then she has lived with her younger sister Rayne the village doctor, and her family, Natalie has also trained to be her nursing assistant. She is content and feels safer than she has in years and is determined not to tie herself to a man agin. Alexander, Viscount St. John has recently broken off his engagement after finding his betrothed with one of her family’s footman. He like Natalie does not want to tie himself in marriage, at least for a while, he knows he has to at some point because of his title. Unfortunately for him his mother has other ideas! While meeting Edwin, Natalie’s brother in law for drinks he explains his mother has invited a bevy of single ladies to an upcoming family event in the hopes of marrying him off. And so a plan is hatched for Natalie to be Alex’s fake fiancée for the upcoming family wedding. As expecting things do not go according to plan, with some drama and humor ensuing. Ultimately Alex and Natalie discover they get on well and like each other and this leads to love. Even when Alex’s ex and her footman try to ruin things they eventually find they’re happy ever after. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would highly recommend this book and the whole series. Callie always delivers great stories with fabulous characters. I received and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my honest opinions and review.

When Natalie Shaw’s verbally abusive husband dies, she and her daughter Annalise move in with Dr. Rayne and Lord Sterling, her sister and brother-in-law. Alexander Hollingsworth, Viscount St. John, has broken his engagement, and his mother and sister are pestering him to find a bride. At Edwin’s suggestion, he convinces Natalie to attend a house party as his fake fiancé. Will the ruse work? I really enjoyed Natalie and Alex’s story. Alex is the kind of hero Natalie, and Annalise, need. This is an engaging story with a charming couple, and adorable little girl, an ex and her friend out to cause trouble, and a lovely romance. A wonderful addition to an enjoyable series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
