Introductions is the first book in The Academy Ghost Bird Series.
With an agoraphobic mother and a barely-there father, Sang abhors the isolation keeping her in the shadows. The only thing Sang craves is a fresh start and to be accepted as ordinary by her peers, because for her being different meant being cast out alone.

When her family moves to a new school district, Sang infiltrates a group of boys nearly perfect in every way. Grateful for an influence outside of her parents' negativity, she quickly bonds with the boys, hoping to blend in and learn from them what it means to have a natural relationship with friends.

Only the boys have secrets of their own and they'll do anything to keep her safe from the knowledge of the mysterious Academy that they've sworn allegiance to. Bit by bit, Sang discovers that her friends are far from the normalcy she expected. Will her loyalty change when she's forced to remain in the dark, or will she accept that she's traded one house of secrets for another?

Meet Kota, Victor, Silas, Nathan, Gabriel, Luke and North in a story about differences and loyalty, truth and mystery, friendships and heart-throbbing intimacy.

The Academy, ever vigilant.

I’m not sure why this series speaks to me so much, but it’s my second time reading it and I just love the dynamics and the boys so much! Absolutely an amazing series.
  • Interesting Book But Confusing Parts

I started reading this book and the rest of the series starting in 2015 when I was in sixth grade. I loved the idea of the novel and the conflicts written in are very interesting and creative. The boys as well as Sang have their own, different, personality that’s unlike most series. However, as I reread the story, some of the ideas seemed strange: they haven’t even started sophomore year and yet all of the boys are driving (so they’re 15? and you can’t drive until you’re 16 1/2). The way they talk is also very mature for a 15 year old. Not saying young boys can't be mature, it’s just the way they speak seem like they’re 20 and not 15. Even the way they react to the bullies in the mall seems too extreme. It seems as though the author portrayed them as older but wanted to keep them in their sophomore year, making the story even more unrealistic. Otherwise great book and series, love it to bits!

I really liked this book, it was entertaining and does make you want to keep reading like every good book should but I have seen some other comments about the writing being immature and I might have to agree with them. Before I read the book I checked the reviews and there was one in particular I found interesting. It was basically about the writing being childish and immature. It said how they mentioned the word smirking, smirk, or smirked on every page so I went into the book expecting that and it was definitely not as bad as this person stated but there was something else that irked me. The word blush, blushed, blushing, or something indicating blushing appeared on every page and it was a tad irritating. Every thing that happened someone had to be blushing, even it was just a normal thing or not a good thing, someone was still blushing. Besides this, overall, I thought the book was very interesting and captivating. I did enjoy the read.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I could not put it down. It was a good introduction into the series and introduced all the characters in an interesting fashion. I enjoyed reading it and have since purchased the rest of the series that are already out and finished those within a couple of days. Great series and can not wait for the rest to come out!

Whether you are just starting out or you have been reading for a while, I would HIGHLY recommend this book. Not long ago, I picked up ready. I first started with audiobooks, so I could clean and do other things while I was "reading". Then I can across this book. I only say saw the first book and didn't realize that it was a series. When I first started reading it, I fell in love. I though that it was so easy to read and to follow. I felt real to the point where I felt like I could feel what was going on within the book. C.L. Stone has such a good way of making you feel like what is going on in the book is real life. I couldn't put this book down, so at the end when I finished and I realized that there were 8 or so other books after, I died of pure happiness. I am currently on my second time reading the WHOLE series and I love it just as much, if not more this time. Lets be honest, who wouldn't have died to have a group of boys this loyal to you at her age?
