Description

"Wow! Griffin and Annie's story is full of mystery, lies, danger, fun, and lots of chemistry. Everything I love in a Callaway book." Lisa

Talented graphic artist and animator Annie Callaway has been commissioned by a Hollywood studio to create the next superhero blockbuster movie, but a bout of creative block has Annie searching the Southern California beach scene for inspiration. A local Irish bar in an old train depot, run by the ruggedly attractive and somewhat mysterious Griffin Hale, piques her interest, and she finds herself weaving fantasies about not only Griffin but also the quirky characters who work there.

The last thing Griffin Hale needs at his bar is a nosy artist looking for personal stories to turn into movie plots. He has carefully cultivated a scene of complete normalcy for people who need it more than Annie could possibly imagine, and it's his job to protect them. But the beautiful redhead with the compelling green eyes is difficult to turn away. Annie's fantasy world where good always conquers evil is not the life that Griffin has lived, and he can't help but think she'll never be satisfied with anyone less than a superhero.

After a string of bad relationships, Annie willingly admits that most real men don't live up to her muscle-bound, cape-wearing protectors of the world, but when her stubborn curiosity propels her into a danger she never expected, she begins to realize that some heroes work in the dark…and a man who fights for you is a man worth fighting for.

While Griffin is determined to keep Annie alive, he's not at all convinced he can give her the happily-ever-after she's looking for. But then some stories take an unexpected turn…

From #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy comes another stunning blend of heart-warming romance and spine-tingling suspense in her popular Callaway Series…

What the readers are saying…

"Annie and Griffin's story had so many twists and turns. I never knew what to expect! The chemistry between the two characters was intense but their pasts made it difficult to act on those feelings. I really enjoyed all the humor between all the characters, and the suspense throughout the book." Mindy

"Ms. Freethy has delivered a wonderful and riveting read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was delightful; and the ending had me worried for the main characters because of the danger they face, but had me loving the way this couple ended up getting their happy ever after." Bec

"I think one of the saddest days will be when the author stops writing about the Callaways. Each and every story is packed with romance, suspense and amazing and in depth characters and CAN'T LET GO is no exception." Jill

"There is heat, humor, and suspense in this book and it'll definitely have me coming back for more!" Dimple

"I love the way Barbara draws you into CAN'T LET GO and teases you along the way with snippets of information, keeping you intrigued, will they? won’t they? then the danger bringing them ever closer together, then the happy ending, I cried tears of joy, very clever storyline loved it, can’t wait for the next book, love the Callaways!" The Callaway Cousins series is my favorite from Barbara Freethy. I like the way Barbara incorporates family members from previous books into the storyline. I thought this book was very entertaining. It included both humor and suspense. It was a wonderful, uplifting story for the Christmas Season although it can be read at any time. I liked how Griffin’s bar had been transformed from an old train station with some Underground Railroad-type help going on. The bar was able to help several people including some of the unique people that now work there. I also liked the superhero theme giving us the hope that good can always conquer evil. I totally recommend this book as well as all of Barbara Freethy’s books.

Another must read in the Callaway series. Griffin saves Annie from a shark attack which begins their journey to help Annie unlock her block for writing and Griffin wants to end the mysteries in his life so he can lead a normal life again. Romance, mystery, and adventure mix in to make Annie and Griffin’s story a story to read and reread time and again. You can never go wrong with a book by Barbara Freethy.

Another winner in the Callaway series! While each in the series is awesome, you definitely can read this as a stand-alone book. Once again Barbara Freethy gets you hooked from the very start. You’ll be on the edge of your seat as Annie and Griffin’s story unwinds. Little did Annie know that on that fateful day that she chose to battle her fear of the ocean that not only her life, but Griffin’s life would change as well. Very well written, keeping you guessing as to what the mystery is with Griffin, and why things are happening.

Can’t Let Go is Barbara Freethy’s latest addition to her Callaway Cousins series. This book pits a very private loner against an open book. Griffin, who owns a bar, keeps his life very close to his vest. Annie Callaway, a currently unemployed artist, has a mouth that seems to say everything she thinks. Griffin doesn’t want to get involved with her, but her effervescence keeps drawing him... and then things start to happen that engage his protective streak. This story has mystery, heat and enough unexpected action to keep readers totally engaged until the end. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Highly recommend.

CAN'T LET GO. Barbara..Freethy. "Callaway Cousins" book 5. Dec 26 Annie looking for inspiration for her next project, finds a quaint bar, and run by one handsome guy Griffin. Would he be her superhero, or would curiosity lead her into trouble. A woman comes and Griffen immediately whisk her upstairs, was he doing the right thing. Another lifetime he would of said yes, and hopefully Annie would be gone. A fundraiser for the holidays, and she is asked to do flyers and design a t- shirt. Which means being around Griffin more, and her curiosity is getting more soon . I enjoyed this story, one's is also curious of what is going on. A love story with a good mystery angle to it. Readers will definitely like this, and not wanting to put it down.

This book Sizzles. Barbara Freethy has masterfully written this latest Callaway book with her unique blend of suspense and romance. Annie Callaway is a bit down on her luck and between jobs. She has chosen a career path different from the rest of her siblings and feels she needs to excel. In trying to experience a small success she tries to overcome her fear of the ocean. But a group of sharks in the water cause her to be rescued by handsome Griffith Hale. Annie is persistent in trying to thank her rescuer as he tries to stay out of the limelight. This is when the fun begins. Their story is riveting and I couldn’t put the book down. I highly recommend this captivating book.
  • Callaways are back for another exciting read

Callaway Cousins return. This is the story of Annie Calloway, an artist by trade who is commissioned to come up with a Super Hero Animated story. She subleases a home on a California Beach. Right from the beginning the story grabs you. Annie is afraid of the ocean due to something that happened when she was younger, but she fights her demons and goes swimming in the ocean, only to be scared away from a bunch of sharks. Enter Griffin Hale, a surfer and bar owner. He saves her life, but boy is he moody, which Annie finds out when she goes to thank him. As always Barbara’s books are a sweet read which grabs you from the beginning. Love that the other Callaways make an appearance, but never are major characters. It’s fun to catch up with the rest of the gang, but not go into detail. There is a little mystery but that gets solved right away. This is a great romance story, fun and sweet. Cannot wait for the next book. As always recommend for a fun romantic read. You will not be disappointed.

Another Callaway installment. This story had romance, mystery and action, all in all a sweet read as are all the books I have read by Barbara Freethy. If you are looking for entertainment, try Perilous Trust and the Lightning series those still top my list. Worth the time spent.
